Proving that twins in bands need not have similar aesthetic preferences, German brothers Bill and Tom Kaulitz (pictured center) hardly seem like they would share a social circle, let alone a band and a birthday. Bill favors an androgynous, over-the-top glam look that perfectly fits with the group’s glossy alt-pop rock anthems; Tom, on the other hand, dresses like a member of a late-‘90s rap-rock band, sporting dreadlocks or cornrows, ball caps, sweat bands and baggy streetwear. Perhaps the dual appeal has helped repeatedly propel them to the summit of Germany’s charts, and crack the Top 40 over here. As for the difference in their looks indicating a division in the twins’ personal relations, don’t worry: “I can’t—we can’t—live without each other,” Bill says.
